Tour of the Arcadia Solar Farm

On Friday November 11th Students from the SPC Engineering Club as well as students from the Science's and Adventures club went on a tour of the DeSoto Solar Farm in Arcadia. The solar farm consists of 90,000 solar panels that generate 25 megawatts of power. The installation was commissioned back in 2009 by Florida Power and Light and President Barack Obama. Students had the opportunity to speak with the engineers and managers of the plant to understand the operating procedures of the solar farm.
